Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, but you can expect a short, stinging sensation after the strip is pulled. If you are worried about being sensitive, taking an ibuprofen or aspirin about 30 minutes before your appointment or using numbing cream should minimize your discomfort (consult with your physician before taking medications). Continuous waxing causes finer and less hair therefore waxing becomes less painful.
We use three (3) different types of wax. We have a hard wax that shrink-wraps and hardens around the hair and lifts from the skin creating a less painful removal; a more traditional soft wax which is removed by using a cloth strip; and a soy-based hair remover for clients with more sensitive skin. WE NOW OFFER SUGAR WAXING!
No, waxing actually has the opposite effect. Hair that is removed at the roots grows in finer and softer over time.
These medications increase the rate at which your skin exfoliates so waxing could potentially remove the skin as well as hair. Please let your esthetician know immediately if you are on any medications. Also, be aware that chemical peels, laser, and microdermabrasion can also affect skin integrity.
Of course! Being on your menstrual cycle is not a cause for you to reschedule your appointment. All clients will still be able to be seen as long as they have a fresh tampon in during the waxing treatment. If a fresh tampon needs to be provided it will be an additional $2 fee.
Before your appointment we suggest you to take a shower the day of. Your hair must be a quarter of an inch in length, which is about 4 to 6 weeks of growth. A night before your wax gently exfoliate to release all ingrown hairs and dead skin cells. Please do NOT shave or use any other hair removing product as it will make your hairs more sharper and harder.
Please, don’t shave between waxing appointments. This makes the hair resistant to future waxing. The first couple of waxes may not be perfect and you may not be super smooth if you’ve shaved in the past. Hair grows in cycles and at different lengths especially if you have been shaving for a long time. At the time of your first wax there will be really short hairs and long hairs, and there will also be some breakage resulting in the hair failing to lift from the root when being pulled. So, be patient. As you continue to wax, the hair volume and thickness of hair is lessened, and it will be much easier to get all the hair off. This is how you get the results you want! If you see any random hairs, you may tweeze but three (3) days after the waxing. Then smile and bear with it until the next time you come see us.
A basic bikini wax includes all hair that can be seen while wearing underwear to give you a nice clean look without going bare. A French bikini or extended bikini wax resembles a high cut bikini where a portion of hair is removed from the top of the bikini line. The sides of the bikini line are waxed about 1 ½ inches inward from the inguinal line. A small portion of hair is removed from the sides of the vaginal lips. We do not remove hair from the labia or in between the buttocks. A Brazilian wax includes everything front and back, and the client has the option of having a landing strip.
YES! Everyone deserves to stay smooth! We offer full body waxing for both men and women.
There is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about. We know that our clients are mature adults and we are professionals that want our clients to know and understand that erections can happen during the wax due to many reasons. It will not be an issue for your esthetician, but we do ask that you remain respectful of our staff.

Studio Etiquette

For everyone’s safety, we cannot allow extra guests in the waiting area (i.e. infants, children, pets excluding service animals, partners, siblings, etc…) unless they are being serviced. We absolutely love our kids but children are not permitted in the studio. We have beautiful, breakable mirrors that look fun to smack, open spaces just calling out to your young one’s heart, and dangerous equipment that looks too fascinating to not touch.
To maintain a personalized experience, our studio is a phone free zone, we kindly ask that you take your calls outside. We thank you for and appreciate your understanding.
No Double-Dip Policy: We use only sanitary equipment & enforce the strict “No Double-Dip Policy,“ which means that the same spatula will NEVER be re-dipped into the wax pot.
The nauseating truth is that double-dipping is common practice in wax application. This method uses the same spatula for the entire treatment, re-dipping the used applicator back into the vat of wax. This contaminated wax is then reused for treatments on other individuals. Unfortunately, this technique can increase the chances of potentially harmful bacteria spreading from one client to another, which is particularly disturbing when dealing with the body’s nether region (aka bikini zone).
For all of Our Treatments We Use (Latex-Free) Gloves
Hygiene is a top priority here.
Your specialist will wear our non-latex gloves during each waxing treatment.
We do our best to respect everyone’s time & to be prompt with every appointment. taking into account that the traffic on 495 and Downtown Silver Spring can sometimes delay your plans, please note that your appointment has a grace period and if you arrive 10 minutes past your appointment time your deposit will be forfeited.
Waxing with Aggy prides itself on high-quality service, which includes on-time appointments and providing efficient, one-on-one sessions and proper clean up time. As timing is everything, arriving too early or too late for your appointment will infringe upon other clients’ appointments.

Before & After Care
Below are the answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about the waxing. Please click the toggle button to see all the question and answers listed. If you have a question that is not listed, contact us and we’ll be glad to answer it for you.
Hair length
We need a little length to work with! Hair should be about 1/4 inch long (like a grain of rice). That’s usually 4–6 weeks of growth.
Timing Around Your Cycle
Yes, you can wax during your cycle—just wear a tampon or cup. But heads up: you’ll feel more sensitive, so we recommend coming in 2 days before or after your cycle if you can.
Exfoliate Before You Glow
Body wax? Gently exfoliate the day before with a scrub and warm (not hot) water. This clears dead skin and helps us get every hair. Face wax? You’re good—no need to scrub.
Worried About Pain?
No shame in prepping! Take Advil or Ibuprofen 30–45 mins before to take the edge off.
Skip the Coffee & Cocktails
Caffeine and alcohol = extra sensitive skin. Try to avoid them the day of your wax or drink extra water to stay hydrated. A Tums before your appointment can also help calm your skin.
First Time? Totally Normal
You might notice a few short hairs appearing after your first wax—that’s just your hair cycle doing its thing. You may also experience a mild histamine reaction (a bit of redness or bumps). If this happens, avoid exfoliating the area until it calms down. For the smoothest skin, wax twice before a big trip or event.
In the first 24-48 hours you may experience some sensitivity like redness or irritation in the area that was treated. These are normal and there is usually less reaction the longer you wax.
Here are some tips to follow during the first 48 hours after waxing
• Do not use any exfoliating products, especially ones containing acids, as they may further irritate your skin.
• Showers are better than baths. Use only lukewarm water (not hot).
• No saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools or other heated sources.
• Do not expose the treated area to ultra-violet rays (indoor or outdoor). Protect your skin by applying sunscreen.
• Avoid heavy exercise for at least 24 hours.
• To avoid ingrown hairs, don’t wear tight clothes for the next couple of days.
• Resist touching freshly waxed skin, especially on the face, as this may cause irritation and breakouts.
• Sexual activity should be avoided for at least 24 hours.
• To avoid ingrown hair exfoliate waxed area (starting after 48 hours since treatment) twice-three times a week to get rid of dead skin layer, so your hair can grow above skin surface.
Also applying ingrown hair solution like PFB vanish or FINIPIL will help maintain smooth skin AND PREVENT INGROWNS.

I love the new location!!!!! Once again, I leave feeling great. The staff made me feel welcome as soon as I walked in. I am able to get seen immediately and taken care of quickly. Everyone is personable and makes you feel like family. You can't trust just anyone with a brazilian wax. So when you find a qualified professional, you stick with them.
I had a fantastic experience at Waxing with Aggy! The space is clean and welcoming, and the wax rooms are very comfortable and private. I'm pregnant and my skin is currently a lot more sensitive, and this was by far one of the most comfortable wax experiences I've ever had. Thank you Aggy! I would highly recommend!
